Monarch Education are working closely with a school in Birmingham, who are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is Full time (Mon-Fri) 8:39-3:30pm, term time only. However, the school may accept part-time hours for the right candidate. We are looking for somebody with experience working as a Support worker, or perhaps in a care/children’s setting previously. The school will accept those with less experience, but an education degree.

The role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be required to work with Primary aged pupils providing support academically, socially and emotionally through the school day. The pupils have a range of needs as well as some pupils requiring physical and personal support. You will be required to work on a 1:1 basis with some pupils, and in school groups with others.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Passionate about caring for young children
  • Have experience working with children or young adults with SEND needs.
  • Confident in building relationships with both children and staff.
  • Is professional, calm and understanding with a nurturing manner.
  • Confident in managing challenging behaviour.
  • Is positive, a forward thinker and able to work well with a team.
