Monarch Education are currenltyu working closely with an Alternative Provision Secondary school who are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join their team as an Assistant SEND Cooordinator. As a key member of their Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) team, you will provide vital support tto their SENDCo (Special Edicational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) and play a crucial role in the day-to-day running of our SEND department.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the SENDCO in the delivery of SEND support, including EHCP development and review.
  • Work closely with teachers, teaching assistants, and other support staff to ensure the needs of students with SEND are met.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, including health, social care, and multi-agency teams, to secure the best possible outcomes for the students.
  • Collaborate with subject leaders and teaching staff to develop and adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of learners with SEND.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, attendance, and behavior of students with SEND, and make recommendations for targeted support.
  • Maintain accurate records and data on students with SEND, including EHCPs and pupil progress reports.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a SEND school or within a SEND department (either in education or a related field) is essential.
  • Experience working with students with EHCPs is desirable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, carers, and professionals, including those who may have different communication needs.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Commitment to inclusive education and a passion for supporting students with SEND.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • SENDCO qualification (although not essential, as training will be provided for the right candidate)
  • Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) training or experience
