Attendance Officer

£16 - £18 per hour

Monarch Education are working with a Primary School in South Birmingham who are looking for an Attendance Officer. This role would be to start in September on a full time and long-term basis! As an Attendance Officer you will be a visible presence for students across the school from 8:30am – 3:30pm.

Role Overview:

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the schools’ attendance and punctuation expectations are met by working effectively with students, parents, carers and teachers each day. You will be responsible for maintaining the schools’ systems which actively work towards students having exceptional attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily management of the attendance process by providing the students with concise and accurate information.
  • Ensuring that all lateness and sickness is accurately logged daily whilst up keeping all recording and reporting up to date (Completing and filing registers as well as updating lateness trackers).
  • Supporting and identifying students with inadequate attendance, offering support and identifying any barriers that may be affecting them.
  • Liaising with other professionals and potential multi agency working to ensure the correct interventions are put into place to support any student, parents and carers are supported to improve overall attendance.
  • Actively working with the school and parents to bridge the gap and aid in any communication surrounding attendance.
  • Conducting home visits relevant to the needs of the student and family surrounding any attendance issues and overall, wellbeing.
  • Being vigilant of specific groups of students such as children with SEND, Looked after children and students on a limited timetable.
  • To review and present all attendance records to the senior leadership team (This can be both internal and external professionals).

The desirable candidate will:

  • Have experience working as an Attendance Officer within an Education setting.
    Have an understanding of the legislation that underpins attendance for students, safeguarding as well as health and wellbeing.
  • Be a positive influence within the school for the students as well as offering support for all where required.
  • Be proactive in professional development engaging in training and activities when required.
