Autism Learning Support Assistant

Area: Worcester

Salary: £12.90- £14.90 per hour (negotiable)

Hours of work: 35 hours p/week (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Start date: ASAP

Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, are looking for a Primary or secondary Teaching Assistant to work in a SEND school in the Worcester area. The candidate will be supporting learners with Autism spectrum Condition (ASC) and ADHD and other additional needs. Experience working in a school setting is not essential, just a natural affinity with children and a willingness to learn and adapt.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Have experience supporting children or adults with additional needs such as ASC
  • Have knowledge of Makaton or sign language (desirable not essential)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher and other teaching assistants in the day to day running of the class
  • Supporting children during lessons/school activities
  • Managing difficult behaviours
  • Delivering 1:1 or small group activities
  • Collecting evidence of children’s work to support their assessment
