Monarch Education is currently working with a school in Manchester that is looking for an experienced Cover Supervisor to provide temporary day-to-day cover on an ongoing basis. As a Cover Supervisor, you will ensure the continuity and consistency in students’ learning by overseeing classes when the regular teacher is absent. This school was rated GOOD in their latest Ofsted report and are part of a large multi-academy trust, with great opportunities for learning and growth for people early in their teaching journey. They pride themselves on unlocking the potential of all their students by providing them with expert knowledge that instils the character traits to be successful individuals in both the classroom and life outside the classroom moving forward.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone ideally with UK classroom experience to broaden their skillset and make a difference in the lives of young people by helping them succeed in their studies. This role would suit recent PGCE graduates or people with experience working with young people considering studying for their PGCE in the future.

Location: Manchester, on-site

Hours of work: 8:15 to 15:00 each day

Job type: Ongoing, temporary to permanent

The successful candidate must:

  • Have UK-based experience working with children and young people in a classroom setting
  • A full enhanced DBS will be required, Monarch Education are able to support in this if you do not already have one in place.
  • Must be confident managing classroom behaviour – you must have a strong presence in the classroom and follow the school behaviour policy to ensure a positive learning environment is maintained.
  • Advanced understanding of national curriculum and other basic learning programmes/techniques – training can be provided on this through our Affinity Academy
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the confidence to keep students motivated and focused so they can work on the activities set for them.

The Role:

  • Confidently delivering lesson plan left by teacher, making changes to suit the class as needed
  • Maintaining a cohesive and organised learning envorinment
  • Supporting pupils in class in completing the work left for them
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a calm manner
  • Ability to command a classroom in the absence of their regular teacher
