Great Opportunity: Join our team as the Head of Year in the Sutton Coldfield area!

Monarch are currently working on behalf of a secondary school in the Sutton Coldfield area. They are looking for a candidate who will be a dedicated and hardworking Head of Year to lead the pastoral support, behaviour, and attendance for a set Year Group. This role is crucial in fostering a positive and supportive environment for students, ensuring their welfare and development.

The successful candidate ideally would have:

  • Previous experience as an acting Head of Year within a secondary school
  • Adhere to the schools’ policies and procedures
  • Experience de-escalating and managing challenging behaviour
  • Set high expectations which motivate and challenge students
  • Good curriculum knowledge

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and coordinating pastoral support for a set Year Group.
  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality, addressing issues promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate student records and engaging with parents/carers.
  • Fostering a supportive and controlled environment for students.
  • Addressing bullying and supporting victims.
  • Liaising with external agencies for student support.
  • Assisting with student admissions and monitoring their integration.
  • Organising and leading Reward Assemblies and Year Team Meetings.
  • Supporting the supervision and organisation of staff duties.
  • Assisting with Parents’ Evenings and extracurricular activities.
