Monarch Education are working with a school located in the Birmingham area who are looking for a SEN Teaching assistant to start as soon as possible on a full time, long term basis. The successful candidate should have experience in working with children with additional needs across Key Stage 3 to 5.

Our School are looking for somebody who is confident in offering a tailored approach to individual pupils, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide the necessary support to learners within a Secondary school environment, with a focus on strong communication, interaction and learning.
  • Understand Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Sensory and Physical Needs.
  • Consistently provide support and encouragement to aid student’s progression and educational path.
  • Work 1-1 or within small groups and being their key worker.
  • Adapt your approach to suit individuals learning capabilities and competency.
  • Be able to build trusting relationships with pupils, other staff members and parents
  • Uphold a strong classroom presence whilst motivating and inspiring all pupils.
  • Engage with children including those who require more support, or a different approach based on their individual needs

The school are looking for a teaching assistant who has a passion for understanding Social, Emotional and Mental Health, Sensory and Physical Needs. The school has an extremely supportive SEN environment with an experienced team which will support your day to day responsibilities.

To be considered you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Ideally a minimum of a Level 3 in an Education related qualification
  • Experience of supporting young adults or KS3 -KS5 students in an educational environment.
  • Able to establish constructive and positive relationships with your pupil’s.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work with a positive outlook in Education.
