SEND Teaching Assistant

Area: Solihull, Birmingham

Hours: Mon – Fri, 8:30 – 3:30

Salary: £80- £100 per day

Start date: 9th September 2024

A position has arisen in a school in Solihull, B90 to join their 2 form entry school helping 1-1 with pupils with different SEND needs.

This is a full time, long term role, Monday to Friday to start in September 2024 for the full academic year for the right candidate and will be working either 1-1 or in groups outside of the classroom.

They are looking for someone who as a positive outlook on life, who is child centred and always willing to go the extra mile for any children in their care and to able to work well within a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students.
  • Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teachers.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Prepare and organise learning materials and resources.
  • Monitor and record student progress, reporting to teachers.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and external agencies to support student needs.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • (Preferably) hold a level 3 in supporting and learning or equivalent
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting that we can reference in the last 2 years
  • Able to control challenging behaviour
  • Knowledge and understanding of SEND practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the school and students.
