Specialist Teacher

Area: Kettering, Northamptonshire

Salary: £145-£160 p/day (pay varies depending on experience)

Hours of work: 35 hours p/week (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Start date: ASAP

An SEND school in Kettering are looking for a Specialist Teacher to work on a long term basis in their connected provision with students aged 11-16. The candidate will be supporting learners with ADHD, Complex ASC and other additional needs. Students have very challenging behaviours so candidates must be prepared for this.

Experience working in an SEND or SEMH setting is essential.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
  • Be able to work on a full time and long term basis
  • Have experience working in an alternative provision
  • Hold the relevant qualifications for a teaching position in schools
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
  • Have excellent behaviour management skills
  • Be resilient and able to cope with challenging behaviours, both physical and verbal

Main Responsibilities:

  • Planning lessons and activities for whole class learning and group learning
  • Supporting SEND pupils with their work and engagement
  • Managing difficult behaviours
  • Supporting and managing teaching assistants within the classroom
  • Working 1:1 with students
  • Collecting evidence of pupils work to support their assessment
  • Acting as a line manager for a TA within the connected provision
