Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a primary school in Leicester for the position of a Sports Coach. This is a full-time position.

Job Specification:

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and skilled Sports Coach with experience in delivering engaging and inclusive sports and physical education activities to primary school-aged children.

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Essential experience delivering sports coaching or physical education to primary school-aged children. This is a mandatory requirement.
    • Experience in planning and leading a variety of sports and physical activities suitable for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils.
    • Experience in adapting activities to cater for different abilities and needs.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Knowledge of a range of sports and physical activities appropriate for primary school children.
    • Understanding of child development and how to promote physical literacy and healthy lifestyles.
    • Ability to deliver clear instructions and demonstrations.
    • Strong behaviour management skills in a sporting context.
    • Ability to motivate and inspire children to participate and enjoy physical activity.
    • Understanding of health and safety considerations in sports and physical education.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with pupils, staff, and potentially parents.
    • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures relevant to working with children.
  • Role Responsibilities:
    • Plan and deliver high-quality sports coaching sessions and physical education lessons.
    • Organise and lead a variety of sports clubs and extracurricular activities (e.g., after-school clubs).
    • Support the school in organising and running sports events and competitions.
    • Promote positive attitudes towards physical activity and healthy competition.
    • Ensure the safe use of sports equipment and facilities.
    • Monitor and assess children’s progress and participation in sports and physical activities.
    • Work collaboratively with school staff to integrate sports into the wider school curriculum where appropriate.
