Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a Computer Science Teacher for a secondary school in the Bristol area. This is a full-time position commencing in September 2025.

Job Specification:

The successful candidate will be a qualified Computer Science Teacher with the ability to effectively plan, deliver, and assess the subject across various key stages, including Key Stage 5 (A Level).

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Qualifications:
  • Qualified Secondary Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This is a mandatory requirement. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a specialism in Computer Science are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience:
  • Experience teaching Computer Science within a UK secondary school setting is essential.
  • Proven ability to teach Computer Science effectively up to Key Stage 5 (A Level).
  • Experience in developing and implementing schemes of work for Computer Science.
• Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy:
  • Strong and up-to-date subject knowledge in Computer Science, covering areas relevant to the UK curriculum (e.g., programming, computational thinking, data structures, algorithms, computer systems, networks, ethical and legal issues).
  • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies for Computer Science at secondary level, including practical application and theoretical concepts.
  • Ability to utilise a range of teaching strategies and resources, including relevant software and hardware, to create engaging and inspiring lessons.
  • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students.
• Assessment:
  • Ability to implement appropriate formative and summative assessment methods specific to Computer Science.
  • Skill in providing constructive and specific feedback to students to support their understanding and progress in the subject.
  • Understanding of assessment requirements for GCSE and A Level Computer Science qualifications.
• Classroom Practice:
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour skills, creating a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Ability to foster students’ problem-solving skills, computational thinking, and innovation in Computer Science.
• Professional Attributes:
  • A genuine passion for Computer Science and a commitment to promoting the subject.
  • Dedication to helping all students achieve their full potential in Computer Science.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a departmental team and contribute to the wider school community.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to teaching and learning
