Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a Physics Teacher for a secondary school in the Bristol area. This is a full-time position commencing in September 2025.

Job Specification:

The successful candidate will be a qualified Physics Teacher with the ability to effectively plan, deliver, and assess the subject across various key stages, including Key Stage 5 (A Level).

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Qualifications:
    • Qualified Secondary Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This is a mandatory requirement. Early Career Teachers (ECTs) with a specialism in Physics are also encouraged to apply.
  • Experience:
    • Experience teaching Physics within a UK secondary school setting is essential.
    • Proven ability to teach Physics effectively up to Key Stage 5 (A Level).
    • Experience in developing and implementing schemes of work for Physics.
  • Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy:
    • Strong and up-to-date subject knowledge in Physics across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, covering core areas such as mechanics, waves, electricity, magnetism, thermal physics, and nuclear physics.
    • Understanding of effective teaching methodologies for Physics at secondary level, including practical experiments, theoretical concepts, and problem-solving.
    • Ability to utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources, including laboratory equipment and simulations, to create engaging and inspiring lessons.
    • Skill in differentiating instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and styles of students.
  • Assessment:
    • Ability to implement appropriate formative and summative assessment methods specific to Physics.
    • Skill in providing constructive and specific feedback to students to support their understanding and progress in the subject.
    • Understanding of assessment requirements for GCSE and A Level Physics qualifications.
  • Classroom Practice:
    • Excellent classroom management and behaviour skills, creating a positive and productive learning environment, particularly in a laboratory setting.
    • Ability to foster students’ scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in Physics.
  • Professional Attributes:
    • A genuine passion for Physics and a commitment to promoting scientific literacy.
    • Dedication to helping all students achieve their full potential in Physics.
    • The ability to work effectively as part of a departmental team and contribute to the wider school community.
