Full-Time Food Technology Teacher – September 2025 Start

Monarch Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Gloucester from September 2025. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to inspire students, develop their practical cooking skills, and contribute to a vibrant Food Tech department within a supportive school environment.

About the Role:
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will foster creativity, nutritional awareness, and culinary skills in students, encouraging them to become confident and independent cooks. Your role will be to inspire a love of food, support their academic progress, and promote safe and hygienic practices in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons aligned with the national curriculum
  • Develop engaging schemes of work and resources to encourage creativity, healthy eating, and practical skills
  • Assess and monitor student work, providing constructive feedback to support their development
  • Use a variety of teaching methods, including practical cooking sessions, demonstrations, and theoretical lessons
  • Promote health and safety, hygiene, and safety standards within the kitchen environment
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioural development within the classroom and practical sessions
  • Track and evaluate student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual needs
  • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and extra-curricular activities related to Food Technology
  • Foster an inclusive and motivating environment that encourages resilience, independence, and a love of cooking
  • Participate in school events, parents’ evenings, and staff meetings

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential
  • Proven experience teaching Food Technology at secondary level is essential
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, food safety, and practical cooking skills
  • Excellent classroom management and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm and confidence in students’ culinary abilities
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment
