Job Description

Monarch Education are hiring Support Workers! We have a fantastic relationship with a Special School in Frome who have multiple support worker roles they need to fill to support pupils with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties & Complex Medical Needs. We are looking for dedicated and passionate candidates to fill these roles, which have the potential to become permanent.

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Care Support Workers to work within a Special Educational Needs school for children with Autism, Severe Learning Difficulties & Complex Medical Needs. As a Care Support Worker, you will be working with pupils aged 6 to 19 who have a range of learning difficulties including some challenging behaviours and attachment disorders. Working within this dedicated school, you will be responsible for supervising, supporting and mentoring pupils, plus organising leisure and free time activities for pupils. You will also be required to assist the Class Teacher in their role and ensure that any other tasks, duties and responsibilities are performed with appropriate and professional care. The role is 32.5 hours a week Monday to Friday. Onsite parking is available if required with good access to public transport & bus routes for travelling to and from the school.

About you It is essential for the nature of this role that you have a qualification at NVQ Level 1 or above. Other qualifications such as an NVQ3 in Health and Social Care would also be desirable for this position. As a Support Worker you will be confident in tackling difficult situations and approach these situations with a calm and mature attitude. Being a highly motivated individual, you will have extensive experience of working with adults or children who have learning difficulties or have challenging behaviour and be able to inspire pupils to set their own goals and achieve these. Previous experience of maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues who have a variety of different backgrounds is also essential, alongside having effective time management skills and excellent organisation and planning skills.
