Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in educational settings?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Education Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join our team, providing vital early intervention support in schools and colleges!

About the Role:

As an EMHP, you will be trained to deliver cognitive therapy-based interventions, addressing mild to moderate anxiety, depression and behavioural challenges. You’ll play a crucial role in promoting whole-school approaches to mental health and wellbeing, empowering young people to thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide early intervention support to children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Deliver cognitive therapy-based interventions for anxiety, depression and behavioural problems.
  • Advise on sleep hygiene, problem-solving, and panic attacks.
  • Educate young people on managing anxiety and depression.
  • Promote strategies to improve emotional health and wellbeing.
  • Advise education staff and signpost further information to ensure appropriate support.
  • Liaise with parents and carers (particularly in primary and SEMH/LD settings).
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to whole-school approaches to mental health and wellbeing.

Must-have Skills:

  • Good knowledge of the school and education system.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with children and young people.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong understanding of mental health issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Effective time management.

Requirements:

  • 2 full references in relevant work experience or similar field in the last 2 years.
  • Enhanced DBS child workforce on the update service (we can assist you with this if you do not have one)
