Become a Key Player in Our Examination Process – we are Seeking a Dedicated Lead Exam Invigilator!

We are seeking a responsible and proactive Lead Exam Invigilator to join our team, playing a vital role in ensuring the smooth and secure running of examinations. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the integrity of our internal and external exams, upholding the highest standards of fairness and compliance!

The successful applicant will be responsible for (but not limited to):

• Examination Leadership:
• Oversee and manage examination sessions, ensuring adherence to JCQ regulations and school policies.
• Lead and delegate tasks to fellow invigilators, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.
• Take responsibility for the security and integrity of examination materials before, during, and after exams.
• Proactively identify and address potential irregularities or malpractice.
• Set up exam rooms, including boxes, folders, posters, clocks and information.
• Check exam papers and create seating plans.
• Invigilation Duties:
• Brief invigilators and candidates on examination procedures.
• Verify candidate identities and ensure proper seating arrangements.
• Distribute examination papers and materials accurately.
• Supervise candidates during examinations, maintaining a quiet and focused environment.
• Manage and respond to candidate queries and emergencies.
• Read JCQ instructions at the start of exams.
• Complete attendance registers and return all exam scripts and materials securely.
• Administrative Support:
• Assist the Examinations Officer with exam preparation and administration tasks.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation.
• Support the distribution of certificates.
• Check handbooks for students, staff and invigilators.
• Complete second pair of eyes forms.
• Support GLS assessments.
• Ensure the timely return of registers to the attendance office.
• Compliance and Safeguarding:
• Maintain confidentiality of examination materials and candidate information.
• Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations.
• Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures.

The key skills and qualities of a Lead Exam Invigilator are:

• Experience in invigilation, preferably in a lead role (desirable).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
• Knowledge of JCQ regulations and examination procedures.
• Proficiency in using ICT.
• Ability to manage behaviour effectively.
• Punctuality and reliability.
• A “can do” positive approach.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
