Monarch is trilled to partner with a ASC Primary School in Handsworth seeking a specialised SEND Teacher for September to join the team. This position is full time with a start date in September.

Applicants will be expected to support the educational journey of students with autism by follow individualised learning plans (EHCP’s), and with the help of specialised teaching assistants and other professionals.

What actually is the role available?

You would be teaching in a special school for children with a diagnosis of autism. The school itself, is currently undergoing the exciting transformation from a Primary Special School to an all-age Special School for pupils from 4 up to 16.

All pupils have a diagnosis of Autism and have an EHCP. You would be working with KS1 and 2 children in a smaller class setting. The children are mixed ability so you would need to be creative in your approach to learning, to ensure every student thrives in your classroom.

The ideal candidate would be:

• Knowledgeable of ASD (Autism)
• Knowledge of phonics instruction
• Good knowledge of the National Curriculum
• Knowledge of Makaton would be incredibly helpful
• Proactive and reliable
• Caring and nurturing

Requirements:

• You must have QTS
• You must have experience with SEND
• Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for DBS
