Monarch Education works with a bank of SEND schools in Birmingham seeking day-to-day teachers with SEND experience to support children with diverse needs.

We nurture close relationships with alternative provisions, ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) schools, and specialist institutions for complex health care needs.

What actually is the role?

You will have the opportunity to work in either a special school or an alternative provision in the Birmingham area, based on your personal preference. You can choose the key stages you’d like to work with, depending on your experience.

In this role, no planning is required, allowing you to focus on what you do best. You’ll start your day at 8:30 AM and finish precisely at 3:30 PM.

If you’re open to traveling, we may request your assistance in SEND schools throughout Birmingham. However, if you prefer to work closer to home, we can accommodate that as well.


Requirements to apply:

  • You MUST have QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • You must either have a DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain this through Monarch
  • You must have some SEN experience

The following skills would be advantageous:

  • A caring and kind demeanour, able to understand and communicate with students with special needs
  • A knowledge of Makaton, PECS communication, phonics, team teach, or Autism Awareness would be a HUGE advantage
  • A wealth of knowledge on the National Curriculum
  • Knowledge of various learning strategies and accommodations to help students with different abilities succeed in their education
  • Ability to build positive relationships and create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs
