Assistant Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO):

Monarch Education are working closely with a SEMH school in Worcester. This a full-time role (Mon-Fri) 8:30-3:30pm, term time only. However, the school may accept part-time hours for the right candidate.

We are looking for an assistant SENCO, who will need to play a crucial role in supporting secondary aged pupils with SEMH needs, within the classroom. They will also work alongside the Special needs Co-ordinator to identify and assess children with educational needs.

The ideal candidate:

  • Will be passionate about caring for young people
  • Have experience working with children or young adults with SEMH needs
  • Confident in building positive relationships with both children and staff
  • Is professional, calm and understanding with a nurturing manner
  • Will have experience using different behaviour management strategies
  • Is positive, a forward thinker and able to work well within a team.

The Role/Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a safe and caring environment for all children and taking the time to understand their childhood trauma.
  • Responsible for assisting the SENCO with administration work, such as scheduling meetings with parents and Professionals.
  • Directly supporting secondary aged pupils within the classroom to observe and report on their progress.
  • Provide feedback to parents, teachers and professionals.
  • Participate in training to ensure you are up to date on the best practices to help support the students.
  • Being Confident to overcome and manage challenging behaviour.
