Monarch Education is seeking a committed and skilled EAL Teacher to join a welcoming and well‑established secondary school in the B13 area. This full‑time, long‑term role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner to support a diverse cohort of multilingual learners within a supportive, inclusive school community. The school has a strong pastoral reputation, excellent behaviour standards, and a dedicated team who work collaboratively to ensure every pupil can access the curriculum and make strong progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and well‑structured EAL sessions, interventions and in‑class support across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Assess learner needs, monitor progress, and provide targeted support to accelerate language acquisition.
- Adapt resources, scaffold learning and differentiate effectively to meet a wide range of linguistic needs.
- Support pupils with accessing the wider curriculum and developing English proficiency in speaking, listening, reading and writing.
- Work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents to ensure consistent strategies and student-centred support.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive school environment that promotes confidence and independence.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, interventions and learner targets.
- Participate in relevant CPD to stay up to date with best practice in EAL provision.
Skills and Qualifications
- A degree in Education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, ESOL, EAL or a related discipline.
- QTS, DET/PGCE (Post‑Compulsory) or equivalent EAL/ESOL teaching qualification.
- Previous experience supporting EAL learners in a school setting (essential).
- Strong understanding of EAL strategies, second‑language acquisition and literacy development.
- Excellent communication, relationship‑building and organisational skills.
- Confident in using assessment frameworks and tracking progress.
- Ability to differentiate for a wide range of learners, including new arrivals to the UK.
- Skilled in using educational technology to support language development.
