Monarch Education is looking to appoint a degree‑educated Cover Supervisor to support day‑to‑day classroom cover in a secondary school in West Bromwich.

This role is centred on maintaining learning in the absence of the class teacher. You don’t need to plan lessons or mark work, but you do need to be confident leading a classroom and keeping pupils on track.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver set work left by the class teacher and ensure pupils understand what they need to do.
  • Supervise whole classes across a range of subjects (no subject expertise required).
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies, using clear and calm instructions.
  • Take the register and ensure pupils are engaged and completing tasks.
  • Respond to questions from pupils and offer general support with their work.
  • Report back to teachers about how the lesson went, noting any issues or achievements.
  • Support the school with duties such as break or lunchtime supervision when required.

  • A degree in any subject.
  • Confidence in leading a classroom and working with young people.
  • Good communication, a steady approach, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
