Monarch Education is supporting a well‑established secondary school in Wolverhampton to recruit a highly organised and proactive Admin & Finance Assistant for a maternity-cover position. This role is ideal for someone with strong administrative and finance skills who thrives in a busy school environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality administrative support across the school, with a key focus on finance administration and reprographics. Working alongside the Office Manager and senior leaders, you will help ensure the smooth running of daily operations and maintain accurate financial processes.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Administration

  • Processing purchase orders, invoices and credit notes in line with school/trust procedures
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with budget monitoring
  • Liaising with suppliers, budget holders and central finance teams
  • Supporting the preparation of financial reports for senior leaders

Reprographics

  • Delivering an efficient reprographics service including photocopying, printing, laminating and binding
  • Maintaining and monitoring reprographics equipment
  • Managing stock of toner, paper and other consumables

General Administration

  • Daily reception duties between 8:00am and 8:30am
  • Providing administrative support such as filing, mail-outs, data entry and document preparation
  • Assisting with phone calls, visitor queries and general office tasks during busy periods
  • Ensuring confidentiality and compliance with safeguarding, data protection and school policies
  • Supporting whole-school events, canteen duty and first aid (training can be provided)

Requirements

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above)
  • Experience in administrative work involving finance or purchasing
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise effectively and work well under pressure
  • Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and GDPR

Desirable

  • Level 2/3 qualification in Business Administration, Finance or a related field
  • Experience working in a school environment
  • Knowledge of systems such as SIMS or Arbor
  • First Aid training (or willingness to undertake training)
