Monarch Education is recruiting a Learning Mentor to support a primary school in Sheldon. The school is looking for someone with experience supporting children who may need help with behaviour, confidence, social skills, or emotional wellbeing.
About the Role
As a Learning Mentor, you will work closely with individual pupils and small groups to help remove barriers to learning. You will support the pastoral team and teaching staff to improve pupils’ engagement, wellbeing, and progress.
Main responsibilities:
- Providing one‑to‑one mentoring for pupils who need support with behaviour, confidence, or emotional needs
- Running small‑group sessions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, positive behaviour, and resilience
- Supporting pupils in class to help them stay focused and productive
- Working with teachers and pastoral leaders to identify pupils who require additional support
- Helping pupils set goals and supporting them to work towards them
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families
- Recording and reporting on pupil progress in line with school procedures
- Assisting with behaviour management strategies across the school
- Supporting the school with general duties such as break or lunchtime supervision
What We’re Looking For
- At least 1 year of experience as a Learning Mentor or in a similar role (e.g., SEN support, pastoral support, behaviour mentor, youth work)
- Ability to build rapport and communicate well with children
- A calm, consistent, and supportive approach
- Understanding of pastoral support, behaviour needs, or emotional wellbeing in primary-aged pupils
- Ability to follow safeguarding procedures and work well as part of a team
- Reliability, professionalism, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s development
