About the Role

Monarch Education is recruiting an enthusiastic, resilient, and dedicated Science Teacher to work within a school in the Swadlincote area. This specialist environment supports pupils who have experienced challenges in mainstream education and require a tailored, nurturing, and motivational approach to learning.

As a Science Teacher in this setting, you will deliver engaging, practical, and accessible Science lessons across KS3-KS4, adapting content to meet individual needs and helping students rebuild confidence, curiosity, and respect for learning. You will be part of a supportive, skilled team focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and delivering creative, differentiated Science lessons (KS3-KS4)
  • Inspiring pupils who may have SEMH needs or gaps in prior learning
  • Using practical and hands‑on approaches to make Science engaging and accessible
  • Forming positive, trust‑based relationships with pupils
  • Implementing de-escalation strategies and promoting positive behaviour
  • Tracking progress and providing supportive, high-quality feedback
  • Working collaboratively with pastoral staff, teaching assistants, and external agencies
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching Science at KS3-KS4
  • Confidence working with pupils with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
  • A resilient, patient, and restorative approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse and individual needs
  • Commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable learners
