Monarch Education is working with a secondary school in Birmingham to recruit a highly experienced Teacher of French & Spanish for a full‑time temporary position. This role requires a confident and capable MFL specialist with proven KS4 experience, able to contribute effectively from day one.

The successful candidate will join a busy and supportive languages department, delivering French and Spanish across KS3 and KS4 and supporting the wider school where required.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high‑quality French and Spanish lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Take full responsibility for planning, marking, and assessment in line with departmental expectations
  • Support strong pupil progress through engaging, structured, and purposeful lessons
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning and classroom management
  • May be allocated form tutor responsibilities (to be confirmed)
  • Carry out duty cover before school, during break, lunch, and/or after school (to be confirmed)
  • Provide ad hoc cover for other departments as required, acting as a cover supervisor
  • Attend Parents’ Evenings where required (to be confirmed)
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the department or as directed by the Head of Department or SLT

Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Strong experience teaching French and Spanish, including KS4
  • Secure knowledge of the National Curriculum and GCSE MFL requirements
  • Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
  • Ability to differentiate effectively to meet a range of learning needs
  • Flexible, reliable, and confident supporting the wider school where required
