SEND Teaching Assistant – Autism Specialist

Location: North Birmingham
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time | Term Time Only

Monarch Education is working with a well-respected specialist school in North Birmingham that supports pupils aged 11-19 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex learning needs. The school is known for its warm, structured environment and its commitment to helping every student reach their full potential-academically, socially, and emotionally.

We’re looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who genuinely wants to make a difference. If you’re patient, calm under pressure, and passionate about supporting young people with additional needs, this could be the perfect role for you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting students with ASD in the classroom, helping them stay engaged and focused.
  • Working one-to-one or in small groups to deliver tailored learning and emotional support.
  • Helping with sensory activities and structured routines.
  • Assisting teachers with lesson prep and classroom organisation.
  • Encouraging independence and celebrating small wins every day.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, especially ASD.
  • Someone who’s caring, reliable, and not afraid to get stuck in.
  • Good communication skills and a team-player attitude.
  • Any relevant training (e.g. Autism Awareness, Team Teach) is a bonus-but not essential.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • The school has a great team and a really supportive atmosphere.
  • There’s on-site parking and easy bus links, so getting there is simple.
  • You’ll be part of something genuinely rewarding, helping students grow in confidence and ability.
  • Monarch Education offers ongoing support, training, and opportunities to progress.
