Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) school in the Worcester area. The school provides a highly supportive, therapeutic and structured environment for pupils aged 11-17 who present with:

  • Social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Trauma‑related barriers to learning
  • Anxiety, low self‑esteem and attachment needs
  • Challenging behaviours
  • Additional learning needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties)

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may struggle to engage
  • Support challenging behaviours using de‑escalation and therapeutic approaches
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups to help pupils regulate emotions and re‑engage with learning
  • Implement behaviour plans and personalised support strategies
  • Encourage routines, emotional regulation and positive communication
  • Work alongside teachers, pastoral leads and external professionals
  • Create an inclusive, safe and consistent classroom environment
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive behaviour

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • UK‑based experience supporting children or young people with SEN / SEMH / behavioural needs
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
  • A firm but nurturing approach to behaviour
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience in alternative provision, PRUs, SEN schools or youth work
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice, behaviour support or autism strategies
  • Experience using visual supports or regulation strategies
