Monarch Education is working with a secondary school in Bartley Green to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Role Overview

  • Provide support to students with SEND, including SEMH needs
  • Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver bespoke intervention programmes
  • Support students with behaviour, engagement, and emotional regulation
  • Work with teaching staff to support access to the curriculum
  • Liaise with parents, local authority services, and external agencies
  • Monitor, record, and report on student progress

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement strategies in line with EHCPs and support plans
  • Provide structured support to meet individual student needs
  • Support students across lessons and within intervention spaces
  • Maintain accurate records of intervention and progress
  • Contribute to safeguarding and pastoral support processes

Requirements (Essential)

  • Experience working with SEND students (SEMH needs)
  • Recent experience in a secondary school setting
  • Experience working with parents, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Experience planning and delivering targeted interventions
  • Minimum 12 weeks’ UK school experience
  • Strong attendance and reliability

Desirable

  • HLTA or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Experience with record keeping and IT systems (e.g. CPOMS, Microsoft)
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training
  • Recent experience working as an SEN TA in a secondary setting
