Monarch Education is working in partnership with a specialist school in Solihull to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role involves supporting primary-aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a structured, supportive, and nurturing learning environment.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated and resilient individual who is passionate about supporting primary‑aged pupils with SEMH needs, helping them develop emotional regulation, positive behavior, and the confidence to engage with learning in a structured and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to primary-aged pupils
  • Support children with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional regulation and positive behavior
  • Assist with the delivery of individual support plans and tailored interventions
  • Support pupils with communication, behavior, and social development
  • Use positive behavior management and de-escalation strategies
  • Help maintain a safe, calm, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support daily routines, transitions, and structured learning activities
  • Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with SEND pupils, particularly SEMH
  • Experience supporting primary-aged children
  • Strong behavior management and de-escalation skills
  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Genuine commitment to supporting children with additional needs
  • Available to work full-time on a long-term basis
