Monarch Education is working in partnership with a specialist SEND school in Redditch to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant. This role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), Autism (ASC), and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with additional needs, using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to help every learner thrive.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH, Autism, and PMLD
  • Assist the class teacher with delivering tailored, differentiated learning activities
  • Support pupils with communication, sensory, and personal care needs (where required)
  • Help create a calm, structured, and safe learning environment
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and emotional regulation techniques
  • Support the delivery of EHCP targets and individual learning plans
  • Work alongside teachers, therapists, and external professionals
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND (SEMH, Autism, or PMLD desirable)
  • Understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • A patient, calm, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
  • Willingness to support personal care needs where required
  • Available to work full-time on a long-term basis

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2/3 or equivalent)
  • Experience in a specialist SEND setting
  • Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication methods
  • Training in Team Teach, MAPA, or similar behaviour support approaches
