Teaching Assistant – SEMH Provision

About the Role

Monarch Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist provision supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This is a challenging but highly rewarding role, supporting students who may display difficult and complex behaviours. Due to the nature of the provision and multiple sites, candidates must be able to drive and be flexible in their working locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
• Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour effectively
• Build strong, positive and consistent relationships with students
• Support engagement in lessons and learning activities
• Assist teaching staff with delivering tailored and structured lessons
• Follow behaviour support plans and implement interventions
• Maintain a safe, supportive and structured environment

Essential Requirements

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
• Strong behaviour management skills are key for this role
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
• Flexible and proactive attitude

Desirable

• Experience within alternative provisions, PRUs or specialist settings
• Team Teach or similar behaviour management training
• Relevant qualifications in education, childcare or support work
