About the Role
Holly House School in Chesterfield is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join its supportive and nurturing team.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a specialist setting, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH), and complex learning difficulties.
You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop key life skills, and thrive in a structured and positive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
- Help implement individual education plans (EHCPs)
- Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Support pupils with personal development and social skills
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times
Requirements
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN setting
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Desirable
- Experience supporting pupils with ASD, SEMH, or complex needs
- Knowledge of EHCPs and differentiated learning strategies
- Team Teach or similar behaviour management training
