Monarch Education is seeking to appoint a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Nailsea. This is a full-time position required to start 1st September 2026.

The school is looking for a versatile and compassionate Learning Support Assistant with experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, and a strong understanding of working with students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

As a Full-Time Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of pupils across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. A significant part of your role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with a variety of SEND. Your responsibilities will include:

  • To provide classroom support for identified students
  • To work, in collaboration with teachers, to support adaptive teaching strategies in the classroom
  • To assist in the support of students at recreational times when required
  • To communicate with colleagues and other agencies through verbal reports and keeping records of visits and/or activities completed in accordance with school procedures and guidelines
  • To contribute to the good order and running of the school by doing any other task deemed reasonable by the Headteacher and commensurate with the grade

Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant with experience in a secondary school setting and a strong understanding of supporting pupils with SEND. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • NVQ level 2 in literacy and numeracy or GCSE grade A* – C
  • Experience of working with children and schools
  • ICT skills at a basic level
  • Ability to work flexibly within a team
  • Ability to motivate students by demonstrating a positive attitude
  • Reliability and resilience under pressure
  • Excellent and effective communication skills
  • Resilience and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments and pupil needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday during term time.
