School Administrator – SEN School
Job Purpose
Monarch Education is seeking an organised and professional School Administrator to support the day-to-day running of a school in Nottingham. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of administrative functions, acting as a key point of contact for staff, pupils, parents, and visitors.
This role is ideal for candidates with previous administrative experience who can work efficiently in a fast-paced educational environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Senior Leadership Team and wider school staff.
- Manage the school’s reception area and act as the first point of contact for visitors, pupils, parents, and external agencies.
- Answer telephone and email enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate pupil records and update school databases and management information systems.
- Process attendance information and support attendance monitoring procedures.
- Produce letters, reports, meeting minutes, and other school documentation.
- Support the administration of admissions, pupil transfers, and leavers.
- Assist with maintaining safeguarding records and confidential files.
- Coordinate meetings, appointments, and school events as required.
- Process orders, invoices, and other financial administration duties where necessary.
- Ensure compliance with school policies, GDPR requirements, and confidentiality procedures.
- Provide general administrative support to ensure the efficient running of the school office.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in an administrative or office-based role.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Professional and friendly approach when dealing with staff, parents, and pupils.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience working within a school or educational setting.
- Experience using school management systems such as SIMS, Arbor, Bromcom, or ScholarPack.
- Knowledge of attendance procedures and safeguarding processes.
- Experience handling confidential information and pupil records.
