Monarch Education are recruiting a Functional Skills Teacher for a specialist setting in Mansfield, starting in September 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and rewarding environment, working with pupils who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. The role offers a part-time timetable across four days per week and the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

About the Role

This Functional Skills Teacher role will involve delivering engaging and accessible lessons in:

  • Functional Skills English
  • Functional Skills Maths
  • Digital Skills
  • PSHE

You will work with pupils who require a tailored and supportive approach to learning, helping them develop the practical skills and confidence needed for future education, employment and independent living.

The setting is looking for a patient, adaptable and engaging teacher who can build positive relationships and create a structured learning environment where pupils feel supported and motivated to succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Functional Skills English and Maths lessons
  • Teach Digital Skills and PSHE
  • Adapt teaching to meet the needs of pupils with ASD and ADHD
  • Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
  • Create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress
  • Work collaboratively with support staff and wider professionals
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English, Maths, Functional Skills or similar subjects
  • Experience supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD or additional learning needs is highly desirable
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to adapt teaching to different learning styles
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commitment to supporting pupil development and achievement
