Do you have the resilience, patience, and compassion to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve success both inside and outside the classroom?

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic 1:1 SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Hartcliffe. This rewarding role involves providing individual support to a pupil with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively with learning, build confidence, and develop essential social and emotional skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference while working within a highly supportive school environment.

Why You’ll Love This School

This thriving school is at the heart of a diverse and multicultural community, where children from a wide range of backgrounds come together to learn and succeed.

The school prides itself on its strong support systems, ensuring that both pupils and staff feel valued, supported, and empowered to achieve their best. Inclusion lies at the centre of the school’s ethos, with a focus on nurturing positive relationships, promoting wellbeing, and helping every child reach their full potential.

Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where children can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Help pupils develop positive coping strategies and emotional regulation skills.
  • Support learning within the classroom and during wider school activities.

  • Implement personalised support plans and targeted interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour through consistency, encouragement, and relationship-based approaches.
  • Encourage confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Create a safe and supportive environment where pupils can thrive.

What We’re Looking For

We would love to hear from candidates who:

  • Have experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
  • Are calm, patient, and resilient.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can support pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation or engagement in learning.
  • Are passionate about inclusion and improving outcomes for young people.
  • Can work effectively as part of a wider support team.
  • Bring a positive, proactive, and nurturing approach to their work.

Whether you’re an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, or Support Worker, we’d love to hear from you.

What We Offer

  • Full-time, long-term opportunity.
  • Working hours of 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant.
  • Access to additional training, including Safeguarding and Prevent Duty.
