Monarch Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive Alternative Provision in Telford, seeking passionate and resilient Teaching Assistants to support both Primary and Secondary-aged pupils from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact on the lives of young people who need additional support to thrive in education.

The setting supports pupils who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education and may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism (ASD), ADHD, trauma-related needs, attachment difficulties, anxiety, and challenging behaviour.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Support Worker or Learning Support Assistant, this could be the perfect next step in your career.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people
  • Supporting students both academically and emotionally
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Helping pupils engage with learning and achieve their individual goals
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and SEND professionals
  • Using behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Acting as a positive role model and advocate for young people
  • Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has previous experience working with children or young people
  • Has experience within a school, care, youth work or support setting
  • Is resilient, patient and confident managing challenging behaviour
  • Builds strong professional relationships with pupils
  • Can remain calm under pressure
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning
