As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences. Working closely with teaching staff and school leaders, you’ll supervise classes across a range of subjects, ensuring students remain engaged, focused, and on task while completing set work.

You’ll be responsible for managing classroom behaviour, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, and creating a positive learning environment where all students can succeed. Strong communication skills, confidence, and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils will be key to your success in this role.

The Role

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on the work set.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, promoting high standards of conduct and respectful learning.
  • Support students with their learning where appropriate, answering questions and encouraging participation to maximise engagement and progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, Heads of Department, and pastoral staff to provide feedback on student performance, behaviour, and lesson outcomes.
  • Monitor attendance, record classroom incidents where necessary, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the school while fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.

Essential Requirements
* Experience supporting pupils with SEND, e.g. autism, SEMH, physical or sensory needs
* Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, Makaton, ASD awareness) desirable
* Patience, resilience and a calm, nurturing approach
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
