Monarch Education are working with a specialist SEND school in the DE24 area of Derby, supporting children and young people with complex learning needs, physical disabilities, communication needs and sensory needs.
The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment, helping pupils access education while developing their communication, independence and everyday life skills.
About the Role
Monarch Education is recruiting a caring and patient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex and physical needs.
You will work closely with teachers and the wider support team, providing 1:1 and classroom support tailored to individual pupils. Support may include learning activities, communication, mobility, personal care and developing independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with complex and physical needs.
- Provide 1:1 and classroom-based support.
- Assist pupils with mobility and physical activities.
- Support communication and interaction.
- Assist with personal care where required.
- Encourage independence and everyday life skills.
- Support pupils to access learning and classroom activities.
- Follow individual education, care and support plans.
- Work closely with teachers and wider professionals.
- Maintain a safe, caring and inclusive environment.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working with children, young people or adults with additional needs.
- A patient, caring and supportive approach.
- Comfortable supporting pupils with physical and personal care needs.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow individual care and support plans.
- Understanding of safeguarding.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within a specialist SEND school or care setting.
- Experience supporting complex or physical disabilities.
- Experience with personal care and mobility support.
- Knowledge of communication aids or non-verbal communication.
- Moving and handling training.
- Previous support work, healthcare or care experience.
