Teaching Assistant

Monarch Education is recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive specialist education setting in the Bromsgrove area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in SEND, care, support work or specialist education who is looking to transfer their skills into a school environment.

You’ll be joining an experienced team supporting pupils with a variety of special educational needs and disabilities, helping them engage with learning, build confidence and develop greater independence.

Please note: Applicants must have previous UK-based experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEN, additional needs or disabilities.

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide consistent, individualised support throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group SEN support
• Helping pupils access classroom activities and learning
• Supporting pupils with additional learning and communication needs
• Using visual aids and structured routines
• Supporting sensory and emotional regulation
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Helping pupils develop confidence and independence
• Supporting social interaction and communication
• Providing personal care where required
• Working closely with teaching and support staff
• Creating a safe, positive and engaging learning environment

Who We’re Looking For

Previous school experience isn’t necessarily essential.

We’re particularly interested in people who already have hands-on experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs and are looking to move into SEN education.

Your previous experience could include working as a:

• SEN Teaching Assistant
• SEND Teaching Assistant
• Learning Support Assistant
• Support Worker
• Complex Needs Support Worker
• Autism Support Worker
• Residential Support Worker
• Care Assistant
• Behaviour Support Worker
• Youth Worker

Essential Requirements

• Previous UK-based experience supporting individuals with SEN or additional needs
• A patient, calm and nurturing approach
• Confidence supporting a range of individual needs
• Resilience and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, proactive and willing to get involved
• Willingness to support with personal care where required

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting any of the following would be beneficial:

• Autism / ASC
• Learning difficulties
• Complex needs
• Communication needs
• Sensory needs
• Physical disabilities
• Emotional or behavioural needs
• Alternative communication strategies

A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification would be beneficial but is not essential if you have strong relevant experience.
