SEND Teaching Assistant/HLTA

About the role:
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant / HLTA to work within SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools across Birmingham and Solihull. This role involves supporting pupils who face social, emotional, behavioural and mental health challenges, helping them engage in learning and achieve positive outcomes.
We are seeking strong candidates with experience managing challenging behaviour and building positive relationships with young people. Applications are welcomed from experienced Teaching Assistants, as well as individuals with backgrounds in support work, youth work, residential care or mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Implement effective behaviour management and de-escalate strategies.
- Support pupils in development emotional regulation, resilience and social skills.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people who have SEMH needs or display challenging behaviour.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, resilient and proactive approach.
- Experience within an SEMH school, alternative provision, PRU, support work, residential care or a similar setting is highly desirable.
