The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting pupils’ educational, social, and emotional development. You will work alongside teachers and wider support staff to provide tailored support for students with a range of complex needs, including:
- Communication and interaction difficulties
- Speech and language needs
- Complex learning difficulties
- Social, emotional and mental health needs
- Sensory impairments
- Physical disabilities and medical needs
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
- Assisting with learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Encouraging communication, independence, and social development
- Supporting pupils with personal care where required
- Helping students regulate emotions and engage positively in learning
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals
- Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Acting as a positive role model for young people
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people
- Has worked within education, care, youth work, or support settings
- Is patient, resilient, and compassionate
- Can build strong relationships with pupils and colleagues
- Remains calm and positive in challenging situations
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is passionate about supporting children with additional needs
