Monarch Education is working alongside a secondary school in Sparkhill that is seeking a Pastoral Manager to join its support team on a full-time basis.
This is a long-term position with the potential to become permanent. The school is looking for someone who can provide guidance, encourage positive behaviour and support students in overcoming barriers that may be affecting their progress in school.
You’ll play an important role in helping pupils stay engaged with their education, promoting high standards of attendance and behaviour, and working closely with staff and families to ensure students receive the support they need.
Responsibilities
- Providing pastoral support to students across the school
- Monitoring attendance, punctuality and student engagement
- Supporting pupils with behavioural, social and emotional needs
- Building positive relationships with students and acting as a trusted point of contact
- Delivering interventions and mentoring sessions where required
- Working closely with teaching staff to support student progress
- Communicating with parents and carers regarding attendance, behaviour and wellbeing
- Recording incidents, concerns and interventions accurately
- Liaising with safeguarding leads and external professionals when necessary
- Promoting a positive and inclusive school culture
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with young people
- Experience within education, mentoring, pastoral support, behaviour support, youth work or a similar role
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations
- Good organisational and administrative skills
- A proactive and solution-focused approach
- Confidence working with students from a range of backgrounds
- Understanding of safeguarding and student welfare responsibilities
- A genuine desire to help young people succeed
