Looking for a specialist Primary SEND teaching role where you can make a lasting impact?

Monarch Education are recruiting a SEND Teacher for a primary school’s in Chesterfield, starting in January 2027.

This is a unique opportunity to teach small groups of learners with additional needs within a mainstream primary setting. Classes will be 5-10 pupils with 2-3 TAs for support at all times.

About the Role

You will teach within a mainstream Primary settting, supporting pupils with significant additional needs, primarily children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), many of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Pupils are predominantly of KS1 age, although some EYFS pupils also access the provision. Many pupils are working significantly below age-related expectations, with learning focused on life skills, communication, independence and early cognitive development.

Teaching is delivered through a bespoke curriculum, designed to meet the individual needs of pupils and prepare them for future learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Deliver learning through a bespoke SEND curriculum
  • Support pupils with ASD and associated SEMH needs
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team
  • Contribute to EHCP targets and personalised learning outcomes
  • Create a calm, structured and nurturing learning environment
  • Support pupils’ communication, independence and social development
  • Monitor progress and contribute to shared planning

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet highly individual needs
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, resilient and nurturing approach
  • Experience within specialist or resource-base settings is desirable
