1-2-1 Tutor – Stockport

Monarch Education is currently seeking 1-2-1 Tutors in the Stockport area to work with children who are not currently accessing a mainstream education setting.

The children you will work with may face a range of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and many may also have Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your primary focus will be delivering tuition in Maths and English at KS1, KS2, KS3, and KS4 levels, or alternatively, providing support with Functional Skills. It is important to note that many of these pupils are working below age-related expectations, so your teaching approach will need to be flexible and tailored to their individual needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1-2-1 tuition in Maths and English, adjusting lessons to suit the student’s level of understanding.

  • Support students who may have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges and Special Educational Needs.

  • Deliver sessions within school hours, requiring at least 2 hours per day availability (Monday to Friday).

  • Complete daily attendance and session feedback, as well as half-termly progress reports to track the students’ development.

  • Be ready to take on assignments quickly – tuition may need to be implemented with short notice, so flexibility is essential.

  • Adapt your teaching methods to meet the unique needs and progress levels of each student.

Requirements:

  • You must be a qualified teacher (QTS or QTLS) or have recent tutoring experience that can be verified through references.

  • An enhanced DBS check on the child workforce update service is required. If you do not have one, we can assist you with a new application.

  • Available for at least 2 hours per day (Monday to Friday) – flexibility in your schedule is key.

  • Ability to provide timely and detailed session feedback and progress reports.

  • Immediate availability is preferred, as the role requires quick response and action.
