Monarch Education is delighted to be working with a school in South Birmingham in their search for a dedicated Caretaker to join their team from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for a reliable and proactive individual to play a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and well functioning school environment for students and staff.

Job Description:

As a school caretaker, your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the school premises are clean, secure, and well maintained at all times.
  • Carrying out minor repairs, maintenance tasks, and basic DIY duties.
  • Opening and closing the school site, including setting alarms and ensuring site security.
  • Monitoring heating, lighting, and other facilities to ensure efficient operation.
  • Supporting the setup of school events and activities.
  • Liaising with contractors and reporting any major issues to the site manager or leadership team.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role (school experience desirable but not essential).
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • A practical, hands on approach with good problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and commitment to supporting the school community.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
