We are looking for a school experienced administrator for a special needs school based in Central Birmingham.

Your working hours will be 08.00 – 16.30, Monday to Friday. You will be required to assist with the smooth running of the school office dealing with all aspects of Administration, attendance and data entry using Arbor. You will assist with parents and external companies and provide assistance to all visitors and staff so ensuring that the school is a safe and welcoming environment for children, staff, parents/ carers and visitors.

You will manage your own workload independently under the general direction of the Schools Operations Manager. You will be required to work on your own initiative as well as taking direction and working as part of a team.

As an integral part of the school community, you will be expected to act as a role model to all students upholding the school values at all times promoting the safety and welfare of young people in accordance with school policies.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the School Operations Manager and Head teacher (as well as any other key stakeholders) to make sure the Front Office and School site is run to a high standard, providing excellent client-facing communication and problem solving.
  • Be first point of contact by telephone and email on behalf of the Primary School, making sure to respond and pass on messages in a timely manner.
  • Take the lead in managing the administration of the Single Central Record, making sure that the record is maintained and all associated documentation is correct, in date and compliant at all times.
  • Support with School recruitment specifically interview arrangements and reference checks, and be responsible for ensuring the Safer Recruitment Checks are completed prior to any new starter joining.
  • Maintain the ARBOR database, specifically making sure that contact records including pupils, parents/ carers, staff and Trustees are up to date and new or leaving pupils are recorded correctly as well as any reports as required by the School or Trust.
  • Support the School Operations Manager and Head teacher with the development, organisation and administration of all trips.
  • Collaborate with other School Administrators to support the development, implementation and evaluation of Trust and local Schools policies, practices and procedures in such a way as to support the Trust’s values and vision.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children: This includes:

– The responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn.

– To identify children who may be in need of extra help or who are suffering, or are likely to suffer significant harm. All staff then have a responsibility to take appropriate action, working with services as needed.
