ASC Learning Support Assistant

Area: Walsall

Salary: £12.19 – £13.60 per hour (pay varies depending on experience)

Hours of work: 35 hours p/week (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Start date: Immediate

Monarch Education, part of Affinity Workforce, are looking for a Primary or secondary Teaching Assistant to work in an SEND school in the Walsall area. The candidate will be supporting learners with ADHD, ASC and other additional needs. Experience working in a school setting is not essential, just a natural affinity with children and a willingness to learn and adapt.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with young people
  • Be highly organised with excellent communication skills
  • Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children
  • Have good behaviour management skills
  • Have experience supporting children with additional needs (desirable not essential)
  • Have knowledge of Makaton or sign language (desirable not essential)

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher and other teaching assistants in the day to day running of the class
  • Supporting children during lessons/school activities
  • Managing difficult behaviours
  • Delivering 1:1 or small group activities
  • Collecting evidence of children’s work to support their assessment
