Monarch Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Head of Year to join a supportive secondary school located in Birmingham, from 1st September. This full-time leadership role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to student well-being, behaviour management, and overall academic progress. As an Assistant Head of Year, you will work closely with the Head of Year and senior leadership team to oversee the pastoral care of students, promote positive behaviour, and develop initiatives that enhance student engagement and achievement. You will play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all pupils.

The Candidate will need:

  • Proven experience in pastoral or behaviour management roles within secondary education
  • Strong leadership and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to student well-being and development
  • Ability to motivate and support both students and staff
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the delivery of effective pastoral care across the year group
  • Managing student behaviour and attendance
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve student engagement
  • Supporting students with personal, social, and emotional development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external agencies
  • Contributing to the planning and organisation of year group activities and events
  • Monitoring and reviewing student progress and behaviour data
