Assistant Headteacher – November Start

Monarch Education are currently recruiting for a committed and experienced Assistant Headteacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Birmingham. This is a full-time temporary leadership role to cover maternity leave, beginning in November 2025 and continuing until the end of the academic year in July 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior leader with a proven track record in driving school improvement, leading pastoral initiatives, and supporting curriculum development. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the school and supporting staff and students alike.

Days: Monday to Friday

Contract: Temporary (Maternity Cover) – Until July 2026

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Substantial experience in a senior leadership role within a secondary school
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, behaviour management, and curriculum leadership
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• A commitment to inclusive practice and student wellbeing
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting the Headteacher in strategic planning and daily school operations
• Leading on behaviour, pastoral care, and safeguarding across the school
• Driving improvements in teaching and learning
• Supporting staff development and performance management
• Building strong relationships with parents, carers, and external agencies
• Contributing to whole-school development and policy implementation
